FAQs

Do I need private medical insurance to be treated?

No, you don’t need private medical insurance to come to the Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital. You can pay for any of our treatments yourself.

Which insurers do you have agreements with?

Dr Follows and Dr Crawley have agreements with all the major insurance companies. This includes: BUPA, AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna, HSA, Simply Health, Beneden, WPA and many more. We work very hard with insurers to minimize any excess costs for patients and prepare detailed reports for insurers and patients before a programme of treatment commences.

Do I have to go to my doctor for a referral?

For an initial consultation, you will need a referral from your GP or another medical specialist. The information your doctor knows about your medical history will be helpful to us. This is particularly important if you have medical insurance (as the GP referral may be required for your insurance cover).

How soon can I be treated?

Call the team now and we’ll book you into a clinic as soon as possible. We can usually see patients within a week, and on occasion, emergency patients can be reviewed as additional evening cases.

How much does an appointment cost?

We charge standard professional fees approved by all the major UK insurance companies. Please call our administrative team to discuss this in more detail.

Can I be treated in the UK if I live overseas?

Yes, we treat a number of patients from overseas. You may not be able to find treatment in your country, or you may prefer to be treated in the UK.
