Conditions we treat

We are a private medical partnership based at the Nuffield Hospital in Cambridge. We manage patients with a range of blood disorders, including anaemia, abnormal blood counts, and blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease, myeloma and myelodysplasia.

Abnormal blood cells

The three main areas where problems occur are the haemoglobin levels, white cell count and platelet counts.

Leukaemia

This is an abnormal proliferation and expansion of white blood cells. Some leukaemias progress rapidly with patients often becoming very unwell over a short period of time.

Lymphoma

These are the commonest of the blood cancers, and most typically present with painless swollen lymph glands in the neck, armpit or groin.

Myeloma

Cancer of white blood cells called mature B lymphocytes or plasma cells and it is the second most common type of blood cancer after non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Myelodysplasia

Myelodysplasia or MDS is a condition where the stem cells within the bone marrow have become damaged
